Rent

Sarah and I went and saw the movie Rent last night. For those of you who don't know what it is, it is a movie based on a musical created in the 90s. Anyhow...it was really very good. It deals with a lot of "progressive" issues, but does pretty well with it. Anyhow, both Sarah and I really liked it!

Wow

Check these out and make your own conclusions about gender and disability bias in the court system:

Depressed Autistic man sentenced to three years in jail for making poison to commit suicide.

Mother spared jail for killing her autistic son.

I guess if you're a" poor mother who is at the end of her rope*", then it's okay to kill an autistic man, but if you're a depressed autistic man trying to commit suicide with a controlled substance... you better do your time.

*aaawwww, I feel so sorry for that pooooooor woman...the article sure made HER sound like the victim

Finally

Finally! I am going to do a blog. Sarah has been doing a good job of keeping people updated, so I have gotten kinda lazy (I know that is hard to believe!). Anyhow, here is an update:

Tennis: So, dad and I turn out to be the undefeated champions of the Elkhart racket club's novice tennis league! Other then 'Devil Woman' (ask Dad), we had a great time. We are actually starting another doubles league this weekend. It should be a bit more challenging, but is not USTA rated yet. I am hoping we will be ready for that sooner or later! Anyhow, Joel and Josh are also in this league. It should be a lot of fun and a good deal more challenging then the last league we were in!

Soccer: Well, this have been going about as expected. We are having a great time, but we have yet to win a game. However, many of the games have been much closer then expected! (9-8 and 5-3 for example). The guys are doing a great job and it is tons of fun playing with everyone! I just wish the season didn't end so soon. We only have two games left, then a tourney...

Other: Not much else is goin on. Sarah is working full time, and I am still enjoying working at JDC. Joel is back, and that is great. We get to see a lot of him, even though he is working a lot of hours. It is a lot of fun having both he and kyle workin at JDC. Justin has been getting into the computer game KOTOR, which is an awesome game. I am not a huge Star Wars fan, but this game made me love that fantasy world. Hm...also, I built an awesome computer for a women at work. Never built anything nearly that cool before. Dual core 3800+, 2GB of high quality Crucial, blazing fast 250GB HD...but the coolest thing about it is that it is TOTALLY silent. Yeah...that is cool.

Alright, hopefully I will be doing more blogging in the near future! Take care and thanks for reading.

tennis reunion!

I have been looking forward to tonight for a couple weeks now. The tennis team is getting together tonight for our tennis banquet. We are having dinner and awards at The Brick House and then coming back to our apartment to play games. We had talked about having a game night all season, and never got around to it.

Tennis season has been done for a month now and I have really missed the daily interaction with the girls. I enjoyed tennis season so much and in many ways felt that I was pushed more as a person and as a player than I ever had been before. Their work ethic and attitudes inspired me all season. It will be fun to get together and reminisce about the season and also catch up on all the new things that are happening in their lives.

dance dance revolution

The weekends go by too quickly. Maybe Seth and I are doing too many things on the weekends and are forgetting to rest. That's okay though, because the last few weekends have been so much fun.

Friday evening our neighbors, Joel and Rachel Nofsinger, invited us over for dinner. We sort of knew them. Rachel and I worked together at the coffeehouse and both of them are students at Goshen College. Rachel made a wonderful meal of chicken, mango curry and chocolate fondue for dessert and we spent the next few hours talking and playing Dutch Blitz. It was fun to get to know them better and spend time with another married couple.

Last night was another evening with friends. Christie was in town this weekend and so she and I cooked dinner, steak fajitas, for us all, plus we invited Joel to come over too. Than it was another evening of games, which us women dominated in! We came back after a slow start to win Taboo by a landslide. Then we experienced Joel's XBox game dance dance revolution! Joel wiped the floor with the rest of us, but we decided that he practices everyday when he is alone in his apartment.

Well, we are off to church in a few minutes. Dad is preaching at East Goshen Mennonite Church so we are going to support him. I love listening to him preach. I hope all is well with everyone.
